Choosing the Right Online Business for You

This article is for you if you want to start your own business online but are not sure what form your business should take. Obviously one of the reasons you want to start a business online is to make extra income or maybe even with the hope of being able to make a full-time income so that you could quit your job. In addition at some level you are looking for a more fulfilling and rewarding way to make an income too. So it is important that you find a way of generating income online that fits you, your personality, your values and your strengths and passions or else you will really just be swapping one job for another.

In order to choose the right online business for you, you first need to understand more clearly and precisely what it is that you want to get from and achieve with your business. I suggest that you take the time to sit down and consider what you want and don't want from your ideal business. For example, maybe one of your key criteria is that you want more time to spend with your family and friends and pursuing your interests and so you need to find a way to generate income without working long hours (at least not in the long run) and which will also allow you to be flexible about when and where you work. I'm guessing this may well be the main reason you are considering starting a business online as opposed to any other type of business. So go ahead and sit down and imagine your ideal working situation and write down and prioritize all the criteria, identifying what is essential and what is just desirable. This will then provide you with a valuable measuring stick for evaluating any business ideas you come up with.

Having done this I suggest you now move on to looking at your strengths and passions and generate a shortlist of possible business ideas. A successful business idea will meet the following 3 criteria. First it must help people to solve a challenge that causes them "pain" in their lives currently. Second it must be a challenge that is reasonably common (so that there is a big enough market for your products and services) and they must be willing to pay for a solution. Third you must be able to easily and cheaply get your message to this market.

The Fastest Way to Earn One Thousand Dollars Online (For Beginners)

Who else is struggling to earn their first one thousand dollar pay day? Are you worried that you can pick a niche, or you don't know how to do the right keyword research or you simply can't convince your community to buy anything... or otherwise convert your content into cash?

There is a better way.

The truth is, in my view, the absolute fastest way to earn money online is to BUILD something.

Create something turn key, that has instant, demonstrative value for someone else.

In my own case, I personally struggled to earn any money online for a long, long time... (close to a year) even though I had a successful offline direct response marketing company, so theoretically, I already knew the ropes.

As a matter of fact, I tried so hard, for so long... that I was actually embarrassed to admit to other people I hadn't yet really made a profit, even though I was working 12 to 15 hours a day, 6 or 7 days a week, for what felt like forever.

The big turning point?

About 5 years ago, I decided to build something rather than SELL something.

I created a hyper local cosmetic dentistry website in the highly affluent Beverly Hills, California community.

Why?

Because I knew that the contextual ads for those keywords were paying 3 or 4 dollars a click, which meant that the advertisers were paying MUCH more than that to advertise.

I figured... even if I only sell it for a few hundred bucks, it will be a profit, and I can offer back end services to the buyer to increase my margins, my exposure and my appearance of expertise.

I made it relatively generic... and used all of the traditional marketing methods that still work today.

I built a blog. I wrote offsite articles. I wrote onsite articles. I advertised the site on classifieds, on forums and even wrote a few press releases to promote it.

One day a Doctor in Beverly Hills emailed me and asked who was "behind" the site. (he thought it was another doctor... but was perplexed, as there was not real contact person, or office being promoted other than the ads I had on the pages)

I told him I had created it for a client, but that the client didn't pay me yet and I hadn't talked to him in a while...and that I'd be amenable to selling to someone new.

He asked me how much.

I said 2k.

He said - okay, but I want the following things done before I pay the full amount.

I was shocked silly! And more than happy to do what he asked.

As a matter of fact, not only did I do the additional work, I offered a whole bunch of additional services, and this doctor became a friend, and evangelist for my businesses for a long time to come.

The Secret lesson that experience taught me?

If you want to make money online, STOP trying to sell stuff. And start building instead. Look local, identify needs in your marketplace and speculate a bit in niches that you can add instant value, and build properties that are profitable to professionals who have REAL money to spend. (and don't mind spending on things that WILL build their bottom line)

Internet Marketers - The Kings of Persuasion

You could be persuaded before you know it

I have to admit, while it seems as if almost all the gurus are using the same copy writer to prepare their promotional videos, they are almost without exception, very persuasive and you could easily be convinced to buy their products in a very short span of time. Phrases like "offer for the select few", "act now", or "offer expires in 24 hours" and even "this video will be taken down very soon" are quite common and the inexperienced internet searcher can part with his or her money in the twinkling of an eye. These are the kings of persuasion and while you may not support their often hard sell approach and some of their exaggerations, there is quite a lot we can learn from them as far as marketing is concerned. Whether you are going to try selling your own product or service on the internet or someone else's, it is the power of persuasion that makes people rush for their credit cards.

Once persuaded, watch out for your own credit card

As I said, once the bug of persuasion has bitten you, you would want to grab the "opportunity" immediately. Be careful of the art of up-selling. It is not uncommon, once you have made your initial purchase that you will be welcomed as "someone who has demonstrated commitment" and you might be offered something "free", like a website or two which will end up costing you anything between a further $100 and $200. Some of them would go as far as making you a third offer of "personal coaching and mentoring" and even "offer" you access to their direct email address. As an affiliate marketer myself, I try to stay away from promoting products such as the ones that I have just described. I prefer products where the prospect is given the opportunity to become educated and then make an informed decision about whether to buy the specific product on promotion or something else that is also available on the market place.

Fully persuaded now, why not learn from the masters?

After spending some time on the internet getting acquainted with the goings on in the world of internet marketing and affiliate marketing, it should become easier for you to discern which of the marketing approaches you would be willing to implement yourself should you be interested to sell your own product on the web. You would have a feel for that which you found to be aggressive, hard selling (you might either like this approach or on the other hand even find it offensive) but at least you would also be in a position to find a marketing strategy that appeals to your own set of preferences and implement that as your first project, whether as a seller of your own product, or as an affiliate promoting a product that you are comfortable with.

Five Important Characteristics an Online Mall Must Have

The internet has changed our lives forever. Even the way that many people shop are affected. It is not strange sitting in the comfort of your home and do your shopping. Online shopping malls are popping up all over the place. But users have some expectations when visiting these malls. We will discuss five characteristics that every online shopping mall must have.

1. Organized

Have you ever walked into a disorganized store and you simply do not know what they are actually selling. An online store is no different. A well-organized website will always be an attraction to any online shopper. Any visitor to such a site wants to know what is on offer at a glance.

2. Quality Products

Any customer has the right to quality products. This is a characteristic that online stores dare not ignore. The success of any store depends on its ability to attract and keep loyal clients. Products that do not live up to the expectations of consumers will be the quickest way of preventing customers from buying merchandise from that mall again.

3. Online Payments

When customers shop online they also want the facilities to pay online as well. Online shopping malls must be able to process these kinds of transactions. They also need to look at the types of online payments they are able to accept. Offer payment facilities that are well-known and have a good track record.

4. Secure Environment

No one will risk the danger of putting their money at risk. People stay away from places that seem unsafe. When users shop online, they will only enter their banking details if they are confident that it will not fall into the hands of hackers or another party. Visitors to the store must be informed about the site security in a way that is easy to understand.

5. Delivery

It is vital that any store offering a delivery service gets the correct products to the customer in the agreed upon period. Many online shopping malls have a shipping policy. Customers expect to receive the items they have bought within the displayed period. Malls should only display conditions which they know that they will be able to meet. Violation of these conditions will discourage potential clients from returning.

It is possible to buy practically anything on the internet today. Online shopping malls are springing up like mushrooms. They need to have a few important characteristics to guarantee their success. Some of these characteristics are discussed in this article.
